INVITATION TO SUBMIT

 

We invite you to submit a scientific abstract to present at the Australasian Honey bee conference 2021 (30th June and 1st July 2021). 

The Scientific Committee will be assessing these abstracts under the umbrella conference theme of ‘Adding value to the honey bee industry’ including honey bee management and apiary site optimisation through to the social and economic issues that interface with the industry.

The scientific committee will consider all the abstracts to ensure that the proposed submission is relevant to the Conference. As there are limited places for oral presentations some abstracts submitted for oral presentation may be offered posters. Authors, in these cases, will need to confirm whether they wish to present a poster.

A summary of the abstracts and conference will be included in a special issue of the Australasian Beekeeper.

Submitting an Abstract

Submissions are due by 1st December 2020 and can be submitted via the presentation portal on this website. Abstracts should be prepared using the template provided (*.doc) and should not exceed 350 words

Review Process

The Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts and notify the authors of their acceptance by 1st February 2021.

Presenters Registration

All presenters will be required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee either as an on-line attendant or in person. Only those oral presenters residing outside of Western Australia will have their conference fees wavered.  If travelling, presenters need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

Presentation Formats

The presentations will occur over two days 30th June and 1st July 2021. Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes, which will include presentation, question time and changeover of speakers.

With COVID restrictions, there may be instances when the presenter cannot travel and on-line facilities will be available. The medium will allow for questions and the talk will be recorded as there will be two concurrent sessions running during the conference.

While your preferred presentation format will be requested (oral or poster) on submission of your abstract, the program committee may request an alternative format be considered. The committee will allocate presentations to the program taking into account the preference of authors and the balance of the program.

Display Posters will be required to be an A0 portrait size poster and will be displayed for the duration of the Conference in the Banquet Hall. This venue also accommodates the industry exhibitors and where the food will be served. Presenters will also be asked to attend their poster during a poster viewing session on the evening of the 30th June 2021 to discuss the poster with other delegates.

  • Title – limit of 12 words

  • Author 1 (and presenter) (Surname, First name and initials; institution, address, corresponding email)

  • Author 2 – 5 (Surname, First name and initials; institution and address)

  • Abstract (350 words) and please include:

    • Clear statement of the topic of your paper and research question

    • Research method(s)

    • Value of your research findings and to whom will they be of use

    • Outline of work

    • Concise summary of findings

    • Diagrams and references not required

  •  Key words (5 – 10 words)

  •  Abstract (350 words)
